Image Management Consultants (IMC) was incorporated in April 1988.  In May 1995, IMC became a division of Healthcare Imaging Specialists, Inc. to allow for future outgrowth of the parent corporation as the technology that IMC is involved in evolves. In the 16 years  since IMC's creation, we have been involved only in projects directly related to PACS, teleradiology, and related technologies.

Michael J. Cannavo

Michael J. Cannavo, founder and President of IMC, acts as principal consultant and project coordinator. Mr. Cannavo oversees all engagements and performs the majority of work at IMC relating to client needs.

Mr. Cannavo has nearly 22 years direct PACS experience, the last 16 of which have been as head of IMC. He has been a Contributing Editor to AuntMinnie.com as well as for Diagnostic Imaging (DI), Administrative Radiology (AR), Decisions in Imaging Economics, Health and Networking News and Imaging Technology News (formerly Medical Electronics and Equipment News) magazines . He has also been a Consulting Editor for the 1994, 1996, and 1999 DI Special Report on PACS and Teleradiology, 1992-2004 ITN (MEEN) Magazine PACS and Teleradiology comparison charts and has served on the Editorial Advisory Board of the former Telemedicine and Telehealth Networks magazine.

Mr. Cannavo has had over 250 articles on PACS technology published over the past 16 years in industry trade journals and has given more than 100 presentations worldwide on PACS technology.

He has presented to groups such as the American Hospital Association (AHA), American Healthcare Radiology Administrators (AHRA), Sun Health Alliance, the American Academy of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) and many other professional organizations. His extensive experience has been used by over 300 hospitals and radiology groups nationwide in evaluating image management requirements and proposing workable, cost-effective phased implementation plans for this technology.

Mr. Cannavo's experience in the PACS marketplace spans over a decade, including employment with Philips Medical Systems North America (PMSI), AT&T/Bell Labs, as well as many other imaging companies prior to his establishing IMC.

Mr. Cannavo is a member of the Society for Computer Applications in Radiology (SCAR) and active in the PACS Technology Forum. He is also an active member in the AHRA.
